This Sunday (June 25) will be a busy day at Dresden Raceway as the Little Green Jug will share top billing with Hockey Day at the half-mile track.
Lovin Feelin and driver Garrett Rooney pair up to be the morning line favourite from the rail in the sixth race, after a two and three-quarter lengths win in 2:02.1 on June 11. The four-year-old Jailhouse gelding is owned and trained by Randy Fulmer of Windsor, Ont., while Phil Katcher of Sun City Centre, Florida is a partner.
The second favourite will be scoring from right beside Lovin Feelin as Myretirementticket and owner/driver/trainer Eli Wagler will score from post two. The four-year-old Cornaro Dasolo mare is still looking for her first win of 2017 and is coming off a fourth-place finish at Hiawatha Horse Park in Sarnia, Ont.
The Little Green Jug is awarded to a “working man’s” trotter that toils week after week in the claiming and condition ranks at the smaller tracks.
Sunday is also “Hockey Day” at Dresden Raceway as the Dresden LumberKings will be holding a reunion after winning Senior and Intermediate Hockey Championship in the 1980’s. All local hockey teams have been invited to the track and there will be a display that will allow all patrons to test their shooting skills.
Dresden Raceway will also honour Dillion Liberty for being named the OHL Jr. “C” Player of the Year. Former and present NHL and OHL players have been invited to the track for the afternoon of festivities.
2017 is the first year that Dresden Raceway has been sending its signal out to the world with betting available on HPI.
Post time is set for 1:30 p.m.
