Barrieaus Dominate Fredericton Program

The Barrieau name was front and centre during a race program that was scheduled to include ten dashes at Fredericton Raceway

. Gilles Barrieau guided three winners in the sulky, while cousin Mike Barrieau earned two victories.

Gilles may have been robbed of a fourth as he was slated to drive favourite Manraysonjo in the featured tenth, a race which was cancelled as a result of a power outage which affected lighting at the track.

Texas Treasure paced the fastest mile of the night with Gilles in the bike, stopping the timer in 1:59.1. The son of Three Olives defeated Dusty Lane Ely and DGs Crosby, with a solid wire-to-wire effort for owner Bill Smythe of Fredericton. Gilles also won with Pondering Magic in a new mark of 2:02.1 and Fightertown Pilot in 2:02.1.

Mike Barrieau was triumphant with Power Pro in 2:00.1 and Found Wanting in 2:01.3.

Racing resumes at the capital city oval with a matinee on Canada Day. The Walter Dale Memorial Invitational Pace and the Atlantic Sires Stakes for three year old pacing fillies will highlight the card, which begins at 1 p.m. Joseph Michael, a recent winner of a top class event in Charlottetown, is among the probable starters in the Walter Dale.
