Mystic Desire, making his first start of the season, posted the fastest winning time of the night in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action on Wednesday night

at Pocono Downs. There were three divisions held for three-year-old colts and geldings on the pace, each of which carried a purse of $70,079.

Mystic Desire hadn’t raced since November, when he romped to a 14-length win in a stakes race at Maywood in Illinois for his ninth win in 13 tries as a freshman.

On Wednesday, the three-year-old colt, making his first start for trainer Ross Croghan, overpowered a group of nine on the front end to win the night’s final Sire Stakes division in a career-best 1:50. Tim Tetrick did the driving. Tyler Hanover finished second and Danas Sharp Smart came on for third.

In the first division, Hugadragon took over the lead just before the half-mile and led from that point on to win in a career-best 1:50.3. Matt Kakaley did the driving for trainer Ron Burke. Sky Mesa finished second while Vegas Rusty picked up the show.

Jolts Virtue put together a big effort on the front end to win the night’s second Sire Stakes. With Jim Pantaleano in the bike for trainer Lou Pena, Jolts Virtue held up despite being pressured for much of the second half of the mile, winning in a career-best time of 1:50.4. Reckless Ric was second and Warrawee Monarch finished third.
