Three-year-old pacing colt Greatest Ending was back on track, winning his qualifer by open lengths on Tuesday morning (June 21) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Scratched sick from the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes after a perfect start to his sophomore season including a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes score, Greatest Ending romped to a 14-length qualifying win in 1:52.2 for trainer Ian Moore. James MacDonald guided the Somebeachsomewhere-Lady Be Great colt through fractions of :28.4, :57.1 and 1:25 while widening his lead on the field of sophomores then closed out the mile with a :27.2 kicker. The Mike Whelan-trained filly Frantasy Hanover passed Leavin Bruises for second.
Greatest Ending has finished no worse than second in his seven career starts while banking $67,289 for owner Reginald Petitpas of Moncton, N.B.
The fastest mile on the trot was put forth by Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winner Lexus Kody for the husband and wife, driver and trainer team of Trevor and Shannon Henry.
Making his second qualifying start of his four-year-old campaign, the Archangel-Lexus Helios gelding led through fractions of :27.3, :58.2 and 1:28.1 en route to a 1:56.3 victory by 1-3/4 lengths. O'Brien Award winner Fashion Frenzie, a two-time Super Final and Goodtimes champion, followed in second during his four-year-old debut for trainer Richard Moreau while Globetrotting was third.
