Legacy N Diamonds made his Rideau Carleton Raceway debut a winning one for new connections

as he was victorious in the $12,000 Preferred Pace on Sunday night.

Legacy N Diamonds was purchased by Percy Elkins for $75,000 in last Sunday’s Spring Fling Sale and now calls the stable of John MacMillan home.

Starting from the outside Post 6, the four-year-old The Paderosa stud was taken to the back by Darrell Coville at the :27 quarter. Legacy N Diamonds rushed first-over in the middle half to tackle the horse of a different colour, Best Show In Town (Guy Gagnon), through splits of :57 and 1:25.

Legacy N Diamonds seized the lead around the final turn and posted a length and three quarters victory in 1:54.3 over Thats Ideal (John MacDonald). Atoka Woodstock (Stephane Brosseau) completed the top three.

Now four-for-16 this year, Legacy N Diamonds recorded his tenth lifetime win. The triumph boosted his career total to $385,326.

Heliopolis extended his win streak to six for driver John MacDonald and trainer Sebastien Giroux in the $9,000 second race trot.

The five-year-old Malabar Man gelding cut panels of :27.4, :58.4 and 1:28.1 en route to a two and three-quarter length score in 1:58.1.

Leo Tourigny owns Heliopolis, who is eight-for-20 on the season, good for earnings of $36,494.
