Rainbow Gold closed out the show on Friday night at Grand River Raceway, winning the featured $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot for the Dufords.
Driven by owner Dennis Duford, Rainbow Gold advanced first over from third and wore down the pacesetting Radical Dreamer in the stretch en route to the 2:00.1 triumph in the final race of the night. The 7-2 second choice paid $9.10 to win. Favourite Euro Classic finished nearly two lengths behind off a pocket trip. Ocean Mist Beauty followed the winner's cover to show while Radical Dream settled for fourth.
The seven-year-old Thunder Road gelding picked up his third win from his last four starts for trainer Ashley Duford. The victory was his 24th lifetime and lifted his career earnings to $123,402.
