Dew N Doughnuts followed live cover down the backside, then blew by in the lane to capture Friday’s $15,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life Pace at The Meadows.
The 6-5 favourite, Dew N Doughnuts was away fifth for Mike Wilder before riding the bumper of Uncle Goodfellow, a Meadows newcomer. Uncle Goodfellow cleared to the lead in the final turn, but Dew N Doughnuts was stronger in the stretch, downing Uncle Goodfellow by two and a quarter lengths, with Odin Blue Chip third. Dew N Doughnuts clicked off the final quarter in :27.3 en route to his victory in 1:51.2, matching his lifetime mark.
Norm Parker trains Dew N Doughnuts, a four-year-old son of Real Desire-Artbitration who extended his career bankroll to $117,525, for Thomas Klosky Jr.
Tony Hall drove four winners on the 14-race card while Brian Zendt and Wilder each enjoyed a triple.
