Doober Hoozzitz Wins CDP Mares Open

Doober Hoozzitz and driver Terry Gallant won the mares Open feature event Thursday at Red Shores at Charlottetown Driving Park.

The victory of 1:56 was a new pacing record for the mare who is owned by Fred Lamont of Calgary Alberta. General Luckypercy laid down big fractions of :27.2, :57 and 1:26.1 before fading in the stretch. Dirt Track Momma was second for Marc Campbell with Private Joke and Gary Chappell third.

Doober Hoozzitz paid $15 to win.

J K Queen, with Walter Cheverie in the bike, won the card’s trot class with a convincing six-length victory over Howmacs Pride and Scarlett Patti.

Joe Smallwood and Norman Clare own the trotter who halted the teletimer in 2:00.4.

Nova Scotia trainer Wayne Merner had two winners on the program with Likely to Win and Mach Raiser winning their respective assignments.
