Youth Strikes In Father’s Day Dashes

It was a Battle of the Generations on Father’s Day at Scioto Downs, with top younger drivers competing against their famous fathers in three races.

The younger generation prevailed in two of the three races, but former Scioto driving champ David Miller scored an impressive victory for the fathers.

Miller’s victory came behind Whythehellnot N, who paced like a 1-9 shot should by leading all the way to win by more than seven lengths in 1:55.1.

Dan Noble, currently the third leading driver in North America in wins, scored with Big City in 1:56.4 over Kyle Ater and the favoured Bubba Gunner.

In the final event of the three-race series, Kyle Ater beat father Dan Ater to the wire with the 6-1 shot Noble Jet. Dan was second with Docs Bonanza, while Trent Tharps was third. Tharps finished in the top three in all over his Father’s Day races, but failed to make the winner’s circle. The mile was in 1:55.4.

Rains caused the track to be classified as ‘sloppy’ for the first few races, but it was upgraded to fast after that.

The Father’s Day races proved to be popular with Scioto racing fans and they particularly appreciated the chance to see former track driving champ David Miller in action again.
