Big Decision (Jason MacNeil) led the field of seven through panels of :28.3, :57.2 and 1:27.2 while battling with the post time favourite P H Mike (Myles Heffernan) on the outside. Meanwhile, the 2-1 second choice Shifty Shadow, driven by John Hawco, stalked his rivals from the back of the pack in sixth before unleashing a :29.2 final quarter to come on for the win in 1:57.4.
Shifty Shadow’s stablemate, Odyssey Killean (Edgar Jacob), finished three-quarters of a length back in second while P H Mike rounded out the top three.
The six-year-old Albert Albert gelding scored his second win of the season in eight outings and 22nd of his career. Edgar Jacobs trains Shifty Shadow, a winner of $66,742 in his career, for Dan Lewis of Blacketts Lake, N.S.
