The inaugural edition of the $118,000 Ellamony Stakes Final for aged pacing mares highlighted an Ontario Sires Stakes action-packed card of racing at Flamboro Downs on Friday, which included ten $24,000 Grassroots divisions for three-year-old filly pacers

With Yannick Gingras at the controls, Ellamony elimination winner Double Dream N established the early lead ahead of Blissful Smile (Scott Zeron) before the first quarter :27.1 and then rolled to the half in :56.3 battling back against the first-over Electric Stena (J.R. Plante). Double Dream N turned back her challenger heading to the third-quarter station in 1:25. While the backfield was gearing up and angling wide as she turned for home, Double Dream N remained cool and coasted to victory in 1:53.1.

Blissful Smile finished three-quarters of a length back in second and longshot Alexis Hall (Keith Oliver) was third. The other elim winner and co-favourite, To Helen Back (Mike Saftic), finished fourth.

The eight-year-old Dream Away mare, who is trained by Darren McCall, scored her fourth win of ’09 bringing her seasonal bankroll to $193,546. A winner of 28 races and over $600,000, Double Dream N is owned by Redmak Enterprises LLC of Ossining, New York.

In a post-race interview, owner Rick Agid indicated that he and his partners are considering supplementing Double Dream N to some of the bigger stakes such as the Milton.

“She did win an elimination of the Breeders Crown two years ago and then was second in the final so that’s always an option,” he added.

Driver Yannick Gingras also picked up two more wins on the card in a pair of Grassroots divisions with the 13-1 shot Star Of Show (1:55.2) for trainer Mark Steacy and Mylittlerebel (1:54.3) for Murray Brethour.

Driver Jody Jamieson also doubled up in the OSS action scoring with the Jack Wray pupil Trickysmasterpiece (1:57.2) and with the fastest filly of the night, Run To Vegas in 1:53.1 for Bill Robinson. The time of the mile set a new Canadian season's record for sophomore filly pacers on a half-mile track.

Parked to the first quarter in :27.1 by Ramblin Katie (Mark MacDonald), Run To Vegas settled on top shortly after. Once in control, the Astreos miss cruised through panels of :56 and 1:25 before pulling away by nearly five lengths in the stretch for the win.

Post time favourite Pretty Thing (Paul MacKenzie) came on for second and Shellace (Mike Whelan) finished back in third.

Run To Vegas scored her third win of the season in 14 tries and fourth of her career bringing her bankroll to over $57,000 for owners Brenton Harris and James Otter of Whitby, Ont. In two OSS starts this season, Run To Vegas has yet to finish worse than second.

The other divisions went to Ocean Notion (1:56), Chief Karen (1:56.2), Casimir Im O K (1:57), Euphoria Seelster (1:55.4), Champale Blue Chip (1:56.4) and Orally Yours (1:56.4).
