Adorable Killean Upsets In Mares Open

Adorable Killean, the longest shot on the board in the featured $12,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace, lowered her mark in a dominating effort on Friday night at Fraser Downs

.

With trainer David Hudon in the bike, the 10-1 longshot stuffed Lil Kim (James Burke) in the pocket before carving out fractions of :27.2, :57 and 1:25. Adorable Killean then stormed home pulling away from the pack by five and a half lengths to win in 1:54.1.

The favoured entrymates, Lil Kim and Red Star Hottie (Brent Beelby) finished second and third respectively.

Adorable Killean, a five-year-old Astreos mare, scored her first win of the year and 11th of her career lifting her earnings to $139,167 for owner Kelly Hudon of Surrey, B.C.

The win was one of three on the card for Hudon, who also guided Red Star Samper (1:53.2) to victory in the 10th race and Nazko Daytona (1:54) in the following dash. The resident of Surrey, B.C. has recorded 16 training wins so far this year annd 1,048 in his career with $5.4 million in purses earned.
