Georgian Downs kicked off its 2024 season on Sunday, June 2 with a 10-race card highlighted by a pair of $8,000 divisions of the Prospect Series for three-year-old colt and gelding trotters.

Slayin Theday Away kicked off leg #1B with a front-end score in the first division. Driver Eddie Green huslted Slayin Theday Away to the front of the field of four through a first quarter in :29. The pace slowed on the way to the half, where Slayin Theday Away led the field to that station in 1:01. Boyden (Paul Walker) pulled from third to challenge the leader with the duo just noses apart at three-quarters in 1:30. The battle raged as the two continued to exchange blows all the way to the wire, where Slayin Theday Away got to first by a neck in 1:58.4.

The victory was the second consecutive and fifth of the season through nine starts for Slayin Theday Away, who is trained by Keelan Green. A homebred son of Muscle Mass-Babeivegotyoubabe has now banked $30,794 following the lifetime best effort for owner Celestey Hill.

Driver Tyler Moore teamed up with Wheelzablazin to score in the second and final division. Leaving from post four in the field of five, Wheelzablazin settled in fourth while Lockdown Romeo took the field by the quarter pole in :30.2. The field remained in straight alignment to the half in 1:03.2 before Wheelzablazin built up a head of steam first-over to surge to the lead on the outside of Lockdown Romeo at three-quarters in 1:31.4. Lockdown Romeo countered to keep Wheelzablazin parked on the outside on the final turn, but Wheelzablazin surged to victory in the lane by 2-1/4 lengths in 2:00.4.

Wheelzablazin has won his last two and four of his last five for trainer Paul Cameron. The gelded son of Wheeling N Dealin-Blazing Shot is owned by Arnolds Horse Shack and has now earned $29,924 for his career.
