It's finally here! The time of year where the hopes and dreams of anyone who has bred, owned or trained a yearling Standardbred are finally seeing them off to the races!
This Saturday (June 4) morning, beginning at 9 a.m., The Meadowlands will premier the 2022 edition of Breakfast With The Babies, generously sponsored again this year by Jules Siegel's Fashion Farms.
Well over $5 million worth of horseflesh sold at the 2021 yearling auctions and a fair number of well connected homebreds will be on display, getting their very first lessons over the track that will host many of the stakes for which they were bred to win.
The baby races comprise the first 10 events on Saturday morning's qualifying card, followed by five qualifying races for older that include some of the early favourites for this year's Meadowlands Pace and Hambletonian.
There will be a breakfast bounty of pastries and beverages along with programs for the day. The races will be live streamed via The Meadowlands website and there will be an announcer to call the action.
The weather forecast is a friendly one with clear skies and moderate temperatures.
It's all free and everyone is invited to attend.
