It was a long trip for Lucky Jim. Not just his journey to Sweden to participate in the Elitlopp on May 30, but his trip in the race itself
.
Lucky Jim, starting from Post 7, was stuck three-wide around two turns on the five-eighths of a mile oval at Solvalla Raceway and failed to advance from his elimination to the final.
Iceland, driven by Johnny Takter, the brother of trainer Jimmy Takter, won the final.
Julie and Andy Miller, trainer and driver of Lucky Jim, were back at work at their stable at Gaitway Farm in New Jersey this week, busy with training his stablemates and reflecting on the trip.
“As horrible as the race was, that’s how great the trip was,” said Julie Miller. “We had a great time and everyone was very nice.”
Lucky Jim is still in Sweden, but plans are in the works for him to return to the U.S. soon.
“Hopefully, he’ll be home by Saturday and then get ready for the Titan Cup [eliminations June 25 at the Meadowlands].”
