Well Did Wires Truro's Best

After being forced to give futile chase to Distinctiv Rusty in the first two featured events of the Truro Raceway season, Well Did ($3.60) took the short route to a 1:56.1 win in Friday's (June 19) $1,675 top-level pacing feature at the Bible Hill oval.

Trainer-driver Paul Langille used the pole position to his advantage in the field of seven, opting to gun Well Did to the early lead over two horses looking to extend their respective win streaks to three: Pillage And Burn (Kurt Harper), who landed in the pocket; and Distinctiv Rusty (Ryan Ellis), who was forced to duck into fourth after floating from post 7. After exerting himself for the first furlong to ensure the lead, Well Did travelled unchallenged through fractions of :27.2, :56.2 and 1:25.4 before edging clear off the home turn.

Upon cornering for home, Langille urged the nine-year-old Well Said gelding to maintain clearance over his six foes. Well Did delivered with a 2-1/2-length score, his first of the year. Catch Twenty Two (Darren Crowe) circled three-wide around a stalled Distinctiv Rusty on the far turn and advanced steadily to just collar Pillage And Burn for runner-up honours.

Well Did has accounted for 35 wins in his career, seven of which have come for Langille.
