She may not have done it in the featured event, but Friday evening (June 19) cemented Daisy River’s status as an Atlantic Canadian great at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park.

In line to Jason Hughes, the William Lanigan-trained and owned Daisy River scored a 1:58.1 victory in a $2,150 conditioned trot, the fastest mile ever trotted in Atlantic Canada by a Maritime-bred. The Nikes Image five-year-old took over the title from former Atlantic record holder Est Non Ila Dulcis, who accomplished her 1:58.2 record feat in 2013. The victory was the 12th of Daisy River’s career as she lowered her lifetime best winning performance a full three seconds from 2:01.1.

Time To Dance remained undefeated on red soil with a 1:55.4 win over Mantario (Kenny Arsenault) and Winder Blast (Hughes) in the featured $2,850 Preferred 2 Pace. Marc Campbell trains and drives the A Rocknroll Dance gelding for owners Brent Campbell and Matthew McDonald.

Campbell had three wins from his stable, with Freddie winning the Open Trot in 1:58.1 and Fusspot taking a personal best of 1:58.4.

The Melissa Rennie stable opened and closed the evening with victories, both with Adam Merner in the bike. Magical Maddys Boy won in 1:57.4 for a maiden breaking score, and Mr Kelly lowered his lifetime best to 1:56.4 in the finale.

Brodie MacPhee celebrated a driving triple on the card, winning with Woodmere Rollex in 1:57.2 for trainer Earl Smith, Now Look At Here for sister Ambyr Campbell in 2:02.4, and with Bobjohnski for trainer Tom Weatherbie in 1:59.3.
