The trip was tough for Shady City in Monday’s $12,000 Open Pace at Tioga Downs, but it didn’t stop the Kimberly Asher training from posting a gusty score.
In rein to Larry Stalbaum, Shady City spent the whole mile parked out while chasing Sing For Me George (:26.4) and Hot Deuce (:54.3 and 1:22.2). Shady City kept on chipping away, and he eventually worked his way to the lead in deep stretch. His :28.1 closing quarter was enough to earn him the head decision over Maxdaddy Blue Chip in 1:50.4. Rock Star took home the show dough.
Sent off at odds of 3-1, Shady City extended his winning streak to three-in-a-row for owner Larry Stalbaum of Matamoras, PA. The seven-year-old son of Metropolitan-Maid In Shade is a 25-time winner with career earnings of $278,113.
