FBI Investigating Stolen Horse Situation

According to a report by Kansas City news station KCTV 5, the Federal Bureau of Investigations is now aiding the Missouri Department of Agriculture in an investigation into the disappearance of two horses

.

Both of the horses had tested positive for an equine disease called piroplasmosis. The disease makes horse very weak. The disease does not affect humans, but there is no cure for it.

Five horses had previously tested positive for the disease at the Raytown Equestrian Park and were euthanized. The report indicates that the two horses have been stolen to save them from being put down.

The report cites officials as saying that perpetrators broke in to the stable area, cut locks and stole the two horses.
