Team Hennessy’s star pacer Shark Week uncorked another dynamite effort to take the $14,000 Preferred Pace, his fifth straight win, on Sunday (June 18) at Century Downs – a day where driver Mike Hennessy won six races and trainer Rod Hennessy won three.
In the feature, Shark Week got to the lead and had no issue. He set a clip of :26.4, :55.2 and 1:24.1 before again drawing clear of his peers to post a 1:51.2 win by 7-1/4 lengths over pocket-sitter Bonus Round with Armycaptin Hanover third.
Rod Hennessy trains and co-owns the five-year-old gelding by Vertical Horizon with Lorne Duffield. Shark Week has now won 30 times from 64 starts and banked $271,475. He paid $2.10 to win.

Of Mike Hennessy’s six pack, two of his wins were also part of a training hat trick for Travis Ellis: Texasdrifter (1:57; $9.20) and Sparkthedragon (1:56.4; $7.80). Hennessy’s other win was with Ontheroadtotexas (1:57; $10.80) while Ellis’s other victory was with West Coast Beach (1:56; $6.80), driven by Nathan Sobey.
