Euchred and Windemere Best Man played tug of war throughout the feature race and it came down to the wire as Euchred won the Winners Over Pace by a head in 2:00.1 at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon (June 18).
Walter Walker sent his trainee Euchred off the gate in the $1,800 feature, capturing the early lead through the opening panel in :29.4. Windemere Best Man (Zachary Mullins) moved to the outside to take a brief lead through the half in :58.4. At the three-quarters in 1:29.1, Euchred was back in control with Windemere Best Man right at his side. Down the stretch, the two geldings battled for victory, but the veteran pacer prevailed as Windemere Best Man took second. Dam Lucky (Ambrose) finished third.
Kayla Habicht Walker owns the 11-year-old gelding, who sits just $95 short of $160,000 in career earnings. The Shadow Play son is one-for-one on the season and has 77 career wins. Euchred paid $6.40 to win.
