Kayla Habicht Walker’s Euchred ($3.50) was a pillar-to-post winner in the featured $1,100 pacing event on Sunday (June 18) afternoon at Inverness Raceway, wiring his five rivals in 1:57.3.

The five-year-old gelded son of Shadow Play achieved a comfortable lead from his inside post, sprinting off from defending top-level winner Intended Royalty (Alex MacQuarrie) through a :29 first quarter before backing down the middle half through splits of 1:00 and 1:30. Just as easily as Euchred controlled the tempo, the odds-on favourite gained separation on the field through the far turn, using a :27.3 closing sectional to amass 2-1/2 lengths clearance on Intended Royalty. Western Bandit (Andrew MacLean) battled to hold third over Tiger Town (Lewis MacDonell) another 11 lengths back.

Trainer Walter Walker handled the driving duties on now 21-time winner Euchred, who captured his second seasonal victory in three starts.
