It has been reported that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is going on the offensive against racinos in the state in response to lobbying efforts that were put forth in opposition of his plan for legalized gaming expansion.
According to a report by Crain’s New York Business, Governor Cuomo’s proposal to increase the number of video lottery terminals in the state ‘should be a threat to the racinos.’
The article also cites Governor Cuomo as saying that he opposes simply allowing New York State racinos to become full-scale casinos.
As opposed to just expanding current racinos into casinos, Governor Cuomo was quoted as saying that the rights for future casinos are “going to go to the highest bidder with the best record and someone that can pass a background check for total integrity."
