As the Leamington Fair kicks off tonight with a card of harness racing, a race is named in honour of the fair's longtime president who passed away in December
.
The opening ceremonies tonight at 6:00 p.m. will include the renaming of the exhibition building to the Janette Mulholland Activity Centre, followed at 7:00 with the annual fair races. The first race is named Janette Mulholland Memorial Pace. Other local people will be honoured as well, including the Winger Family Memorial Pace and the Carlyle Hope Memorial Trot.
Mulholland, who had been the president for 10 years, died suddenly Dec. 7 at the age of 61.
