At Last equaled his lifetime mark of 1:52.1 in winning the final $10,000 Open Pace of the Fraser Downs meet on Friday night.

In the 12th race Friday feature, Reserve Forces (Scott Knight) stung Beach Boy Toy (Dave Hudon) to the opening quarter in :26.4. With Cash Account (Carl Sibiga) filling the two-hole, Beach Boy Toy took back to third, settling in front of even-money favourite At Last and driver Kevin Anderson.

As the field passed the :55.3 half-mile mark, Anderson sent At Last first up and the four-year-old son of Western Ideal- Dinah Classic locked in a battle with the leader at three-quarters in 1:23.1 and around the turn.

In the stretch, At Last wore down eventual third-place finisher Reserve Forces and just held off a quick-closing Beach Boy Toy by a neck to win for the second consecutive time since returning to the Surrey oval from California.

The victory was At Last’s fourth in a row from starts at the Downs and eighth of the year in 22 races pushing his bankroll to $47,604 for owner Mark Anderson of Willows, California. The Debra McCarthy trainee has won 17 times over the course of his career while banking over $75,000.

Fraser Downs’ meet will wrap up on Saturday night with a 13-race program featuring the $15,000 Rising Star Stake final for three-year-old pacing fillies that are non-winners of $20,000 lifetime and a $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace.
