The bevy of state-bred stakes action at Balmoral Park continued on Wednesday, June 17 with sophomore trotting colts getting top billing in the Mikes A Mystery Stakes. With a total of 13 diagonally-gaited specialists dropped into the entry box, the event was split into a pair of $9,000 divisions.
In the first split, 1-5 post time choice Dr McDreamy had no trouble disposing of five rivals, as he trotted to a four and a half-length decision in a speedy 1:55.1 from Post 5.
In the nightcap, Nelson Willis trainee Windy Joe made every pole a winning one, as he reported home with a one and quarter-length triumph in 1:58.1. The striking chestnut son of Valley Victor--Fox Valley Beloved was never in danger through the stretch, as he trotted home in :28.3 to secure his third win in six starts this year.
