Starting from the second tier proved to be no problem for Tymal Riggs, as he steamrolled to victory in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot, which headlined the 10-race card on Monday, June 17 at Grand River Raceway.
Driver Travis Henry settled in the sixth position in the early stages as The Great Reset (Lorne House) rampaged through an opening quarter in a blistering :26.1. The Great Reset led to the halfway point in a slowed down :56.2 while Tymal Riggs secured second-over positioning behind Petro Angel (Jason Ryan). Petro Angel went right at The Great Reset on the backstretch, duelling to the three-quarter pole noses apart in 1:25.2 while Tymal Riggs was poised to pounce from fourth.
Entering the final turn, The Great Reset took advantage of his inside position to rebuff the challenge of Petro Angel while Tymal Riggs tipped three-deep on the turn. Powering home in :28.3, Tymal Riggs thundered to the front to score by 1-1/2 lengths over a game The Great Reset in 1:54.2. Delgado (Scott Young) finished third.
Tymal Riggs paid $7.10 to win as the bettors' second choice.
The victory was the fourth in 18 seasonal outings for the seven-year-old son of Kadabra-All Filled Up who is owned and trained by Mark Etsell. It was the 18th career victory for Tymal Riggs, who has now banked $233,560 lifetime.
The victory was one of four for driver Travis Henry on the Monday night card.
