Howmac Maximus Favoured In Summerside Feature

Howmac Maximus will have to contend with some Nova Scotia Invaders in the Tuesday evening top event at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The western P.E.I. track has 13 dashes being offered with a 6 p.m. start time.

Howmac Maximus and driver Damian MacLellan are favoured in the race 12 feature for a $3,250 pot. The Tammy Collings-trained son of Articulator showed his grit in his latest start as he fended off the majority of a deep group of horses to finish second to Island Beach Boy while being race timed in 1:55.1. Brett MacDonald of Freelton, Ont., holds the ownership papers on the winner of nine races.

Brumby will ship in from Truro Raceway into post two with Darren Crowe garnering the driving assignment for trainer Tammy MacKay. The son of Pang Shui has rolled out a trio of third-place finishes against tough company in his last three starts.

Tango Seelster will leave from post six as another Nova Scotia entry from the Carrie Saunders barn. Paul Langille will drive the five-year-old son of Sunshine Beach.

Also in the featured field are Melody Maker (Corey MacPherson), Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy) and Coasttocoastshark (Jaycob Sweet).

The Backstretch Beat likes Howmac Maximus on top: “Howmac Maximus was a nice second in his latest against an Invitational pacer while defeating a solid field of horses. Young MacLellan has been showing off his talent in the race bike as of late and we say he bags the Tuesday evening feature this week. We have him as the most probable winner of the night but he’s far from a sure thing on a 13-dash card full of competitive dashes.”

The race 13 finale has Woodmere Denny vying for his third straight since returning home for trainer MacKenzie Spence. Taylor Doyle will drive the son of Rollwithitharry who now sits undefeated so far in 2024. His chief rivals include Privelege (Langille) and Risin Horizon (Crowe).
