'Electra' Fastest 2yo Filly Of '09

Hawks Cry Electra recorded the fastest time for a two-year-old filly in 2009, as she ripped through a 1:56.2 mile on Wednesday in a qualifier at Scioto Downs.

The freshman filly was driven by Dan Noble for trainer Brandon Piguet. The filly sat third through an opening half in 1:00 before Noble pulled her. She paced her own last half-mile in :55.4 to score by six and three-quarter lengths.

Hawks Cry Electra is by Mantacular and out of More Sugar Added p, 5, 1:52.3 ($126,622) by Nobleland Sam. She was bred by Kristy Harris of Rose Hill, Virginia, and is owned by a partnership consisting of Hawks Cry Farm LLC, Zachary King, Brian Dalton, and James Davis.

Finishing second was O Lucky Me (The Panderosa) while Sky Sunny (Cambest) got third.
