Ticking off a new career mark, Playa Duharas also checked the box for her fifth consecutive victory at Georgian Downs on Sunday, June 16 in a $7,350 conditioned optional claimer for pacing fillies and mares.

Travis Cullen sent the Jodie Cullen student to the top from the rail, but the pair accepted the pocket spot behind La Always Amartini (Austin Sorrie). La Always Amartini handled the timer as she hit the checkpoints in :27.1, :56.1 and 1:25.3 while Playa Duharas kept her in her sights from the two spot. At the top of the stretch, Playa Duharas maneuvered into scoring position, crossing the wire with a 3-1/4-length triumph in a new lifetime best of 1:55. Dragon Terror (Natasha Day) nabbed second and My Maserati (Jason Ryan) completed the top three.

A1 Stable of Dundas, Ont. owns the eight-year-old Sunshine Beach-Histoire Duharas mare, who recorded her ninth win in 21 starts this year and 21st career tally from 110 starts. Playa Duharas sports a $111,013 lifetime bankroll. She returned $2.40 as the bettors' choice.
