After finishing second in his first two starts of the season to P H Tornado in the Preferred class at St. John’s Racing & Entertainment Centre, Machthemoment took advantage of his rival’s absence on Wednesday and rolled to a five length score for trainer-driver Rod Forward
.
Machthemoment cleared the lead past the half-mile marker and kicked home to win the $640 feature in 2:03.2 over a sloppy track rated two seconds off. Jerry Mcguire and driver Shane Forward, a three-time winner on the seven-race program, finished back in second while Lady Jessie (Gord Fleming) rounded out the top three.
The six-year-old son of Mach Three-Memorable Moments notched his 21st victory this evening and pushed his earnings over the $60,000 mark for owners Jeanette Newell of Coleys Point South and Justin Newell of North Valley, Newfoundland.
