Peter Cattoni Killed In Plane Crash

According to an article by Times and Transcript, Maritime harness racing pioneer Peter Cattoni, 61, was killed during the afternoon of Friday, June 12 when his single-engine plane crashed just outside Chetwynd, BC

According to RCMP, the aircraft experienced severe propeller trouble before the pilot tried to land on a grassy slope. The Swiss-born Cattoni was a former co-owner and manager of New Brunswick Downs, a five-eighths-of-a-mile racetrack in Dieppe that operated from 1989 until it closed its doors in 1991.

According to the report, Cattoni was returning from a trip to Yellowknife, where he was visiting his son, Daniel, and celebrating his 61st birthday.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed. More information will be conveyed when it is made available.
