The Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes for three-year-olds officially resumed Sunday with a pair of $20,000 divisions on the 13-race program at Harrington Raceway.
Legacy Racing of DE, Pam Curran and Niel Gargiulo’s Motorino ($4.20, Allan Davis) won the first split in 1:56. The even-money choice set all the fractions in his narrow win over Hawker and Go Big Spinder. Trained by Wayne Givens, the win was the third straight for the son of Brian P.
The second division was the fastest as Karen Walls’ Elite Awards ($2.80, George Dennis) was a wire-to-wire winner over Dover Downs’ final winner Casino Bags Carlo and Lewiebyalength for trainer David Rearic in 1:54.3. A Powerful Toy gelding, Elite Awards, notched his 11th win in 18 lifetime starts.
Dennis, Davis and Bret Brittingham each notched driving triples on the program. Jon Roberts had a double.
The DSBF stakes will continue Monday with the filly pacers in action with three divisions. On Tuesday, the trotting fillies will go postward in two divisions, while the trotting colts will cap off the week with two divisions on Wednesday.
After two rounds of eliminations, the $100,000 finals are slated for July 24, Governor’s Day at the Delaware State Fair.
