The My MVP mare Thisisshe continued her domination of the top claiming trotters at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono on Monday (June 14), taking a mark of 1:53.4 in the $12,800 handicap feature.
Thisisshe has frequently raced on or near the lead, but with Just Maybe The One blasting away and Clarion Hall protecting the pocket, driver George Napolitano, Jr. settled the favourite in third. The pair may have given her backers a bit of anxiety as she gapped at points while Just Maybe The One blasted fractions of :26.3, :55.1, and 1:23.4.
Clarion Hall, tagging right behind in the pocket, looked like the one who had the best chance to overhaul the pacesetter, but the energetic Napolitano and his game mare just kept digging in, winning by a length and a half with Just Maybe The One another length back in third. Thisisshe now has a 9-5-2-0 scorecard in the top claiming trot class here and a meet record of 14-7-2-1. Hunter Oakes is her owner and trainer.
“George Nap“ won four races on the Monday card to lead the driving colony on the day.
Pocono will, for the second-straight Tuesday, be using only the “NW 2 races,” “NW 4 races,” and “NW 8 races” conditions – and as can be expected, there is one more “NW 4” races (five) and one fewer “NW 2” races (seven) than last week, as several of the last week’s winners are stepping up.
