The Stollery Children’s Hospital fundraiser at Kelly Hoerdt’s Bedrock Training Centre in Beaumont, Alberta continues to grow with its third annual event this past Sunday, June 11 establishing a new fundraising milestone.

Hoerdt told Trot Insider on Wednesday that more than $30,000 was raised for the Stollery Children’s Hospital at the Family Fun Day event. Over 1,400 people attended the fundraiser hosted by Hoerdt and fellow Standardbred owner Peter Giannakopoulos of Nitza's Pizza.

Funds raised topped past years' donations of $20,000 in 2016 and $11,500 in 2015 while attendance has doubled since the inaugural event.

Sunday's Family Fun Day featured a commemorative mile by pacing stallion Trust The Artist to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Canadian Horse Racing as well as jog cart, wagon and pony rides, free pizza and refreshments, vintage cars and numerous kids activities.
