Larry Stalbaum celebrated the 4,000th win of his driving career Monday night at Pocono Downs

. The milestone score came in the fourth race with Mountain Air, a horse trained by his partner, Kimberly Asher.

The 46-year-old Stalbaum left quickly and got the 11-1 longshot to the front right from the start of the race and wired the field in 1:53 in a $10,000 claiming pace.

“I’m happy,” said Stalbaum in the winner’s circle with his four young children and Asher. “I did it with lots of tired horses.”

Stalbaum, a resident of Goshen, NY, began his driving career in 1986 and now has won more than $19 million purses with those 4,000 victories. His most wins in a single season came in 2004 when he was in the winner’s circle 421 times with his best UDR of .342 from 1,949 starts. The best money year occurred in 2008 when he compiled more than $3.4 million in purses with 216 wins.
