Lil Be Dazzeld Upsets In Rising Star

Lil Be Dazzeld converted a perfect pocket trip into his first win of the season in the $20,000 Rising Star Stake Final for three-year-old colts and geldings on Saturday at Fraser Downs

Trainer/driver Scott Knight and Lil Be Dazzled, the 7-1 fourth choice, tucked into the two-hole behind Minnesota Hanover (Serge Masse), who led the field through swift intervals of :26.2, :56.1 and 1:24.4. From there Lil Be Dazzled kicked into action and used a :29.2 final frame to win in 1:54.2 by three-quarters of a length.

Bestnotlie Hanover (Gord Abbott) closed well to finish second in a dead-heat with Minnesota Hanover.

Lil Be Dazzled, a three-year-old homebred son of Lusty Leader, won for the second time in his career pushing his earnings to $22,228 for Lil Dude Ranch of Surrey, B.C.

In Open action, the favoured Stiletto Hall rolled to his fifth straight victory for trainer/driver Serge Masse in the five-horse affair. The seven-year-old son of Blissful Hall led from start to finish en route to victory in a career-best clocking of 1:52 over Lilsharkshooter (Scott Knight) and Kiawah (David Hudon).

So far in 2009 the bay has put together a record reading 12-3-1 in 21 starts earning $73,800. The winner of 28 races, who is owned by the Don M JR Stables and Don Byrne Stables 2008 of Edmonton, Alta., bumped his total bankroll $247,191 after earning the lion’s share of the $12,000 purse.
