As reported on Standardbred Canada on Friday night, Dr. Ian Moore and Sarah Svanstedt were involved in an on-track accident before the fourth race at Woodbine Mohawk Park on June 12, 2026.

Both Moore and Svanstedt were unseated from their horses in a warm-up collision. The AGCO judges reported that Svanstedt was taken to hospital by ambulance while Moore was treated by EMS on site and his wife, Nancy, would be taking him to the hospital for further evaluation.

Moore told Trot Insider on Saturday morning that he had bruised ribs and some "road rash" on his forearm, but he was reporting those injuries from his stable after a long night in the hospital. The horse involved was reported to be okay.

According to a public social media post from Svanstedt Stable, Svanstedt was out warming up All Time Trot S when Moore’s horse, travelling the opposite direction, was spooked by a tractor and jumped sideways into Svanstedt and All Time Trot S before her appearance later that night in the Casual Breeze. The impact reportedly knocked Svanstedt out of the jog cart, and she was unconscious on the track until the ambulance arrived.

"She is pretty banged up," said the stable. "Her right hand and arm are currently in a hard cast, and she is dealing with significant pain in her shoulder and neck. We are thankful that her injuries do not appear to be even more serious, but she still has a long road ahead and many questions remain.

"Once we return home to the USA, Sarah will be seeing additional doctors and specialists so we can better understand the full extent of her injuries and determine the best path forward," the statement continued. "We are praying for the best possible outcome and a full recovery."

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Sarah Svanstedt a full and speedy recovery.
