St Lads Beat It used a strong early turn of foot to achieve the lead from post 7, and from there, he never looked back en route to a 1:59 score in Sunday's (June 13) opening day feature at Clinton Raceway, a $5,800 Preferred 3 Pace.
With two victorious qualifying lines under his harness, the four-year-old son of Mach Three outsprinted his seven foes through the first eighth of the one-mile journey, guided clear of Streakazana by driver Anthony Haughan well before clicking off : 30.1 first quarter. After rating a 1:00.4 first lap, St Lads Beat It rebuffed a first-over challenge from Easy Flyer through a :29.4 third split before throwing down the gauntlet on the far turn. St Lads Beat It capped his 1:59 victory with a :28.2 final quarter and evaded runner-up Life Is Better by 3-1/4 lengths. Streakazana faded to third.
Jeffrey Williamson trains three-time winner St Lads Beat It for Rebecca Williamson.
