Officials with the Ontario Standardbred Show Series have told Trot Insider that ‘Standardrama 2016,’ the event that took place this past weekend at the Orono Fairgrounds, was a great success.
“Although our number of riders were down from last year, the show was still action packed,” said Tammi Hughes. “It was a great start to the series.”
Trainer David Gibson was the day’s official announcer, and Ron Waples was the special visitor of the day, as he was on hand to pin ribbons on some of the winners.
“This show has a great vibe, everyone has a positive attitude and our competitors are top notch in the sportsmanship department,” said Hughes.
The series’ newest addition of lead line class won the hearts of fans, as Ava MacDonald and Brody Nicholson squared off.
“We had some new riders join us and a lot of familiar faces from previous years,” Hughes explained. “Not one class had an ‘even money’ favourite, that is how close the competition was.”
Organizers have stated that the show and series could not happen without its sponsors, and the series would like to thank each one of them for helping the series out.
