For the first time, animals other than horses will cross the finish line at Tioga Downs this weekend.
Camel and ostrich racing will make its debut Saturday night during live racing. The ostrich race will take place following the second race (7:15 p.m.) and the camel race will take place after the sixth race (8:35 pm).
Tioga Downs Vice President of Racing Jason Settlemoir will ride one of the camels against three professional camel riders.
Pig races are scheduled for Sunday during a special Father’s Day card of racing. Racing will start at 1:30 p.m. with pig races throughout the afternoon.
Tioga Downs is also offering Hot Dog Weekend, featuring $1 hot dogs both Saturday and Sunday with a special toppings bar and the first ever Hot Dog Eating Contest on Saturday night.
