Swedish ace Erik Adielsson guided Nu Pagadi to a stakes record victory in Sunday's Copenhagen Cup
in Denmark.
After clearing Private Love (Johnny Takter) and making the lead, Adielsson kept Spring Erom (Bjorn Goop) at bay en route to the winner's share of the CDN$187,000 purse. The winning time over the 2,100 metre distance was 1.11,7.
After a third place finish in his Elitlopp elimination and a fourth place finish in the final, famed Swedish trainer Stig Johansson thinks the two heats in Solvalla made his horse better.
"He feels more alert," stated Johansson after the win. "He is one of the best I have trained and there is continued development in him."
Elitlopp winner Iceland was to contest the Copenhagen Cup but was scratched late last week after trainer Stefan Melander reported his horse was lame after a possible paddock injury.
