Diamond Ryder demolished his four opponents in the $18,000 Pop-Up Series Final at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday, June 12, as he debuted for new connections after being claimed in the second leg of the series.
Billy Davis Jr. commanded speed off the wings from the Dali-Sambucas Credit gelding, finding the front early in the contest for $20,000 male conditioned claimers. He carved out fractions of :27.2, :56.4, and 1:24.2, soaring clear of the field on the final turn. He added to his lead all the way down the stretch and reached the finish 9-1/4 lengths in front in 1:51, knocking two seconds off his lifetime mark.
Pam Forgie trains Diamond Ryder for Triple S Equine of Newton. The four-year-old gelding is now three-for-32 lifetime with $49,620 in the bank. He returned $2.40 to win.
This Pop-Up Series was for $20,000 claiming male pacers with less than $25,000 ($31,250 for Ontario-sired horses) in career earnings, with allowances for age.
