Rotten Ronnie added another record to his resume, winning Sunday afternoon's (June 12) featured finale at Inverness Raceway.

After romping to an 8-3/4-length victory in the $1,700 Winners Over Pace when making his season's debut last week, the Lennan MacIsaac trainee dominated again for driver Redmond Doucet and co-owner Andy Stewart.

Ordered to the outside post six this week, the 1-4 favourite wasn't bothered by a starter's recall when insider Betterthanbutter (Zachary Mullins) broke behind the gate and caused interference.

When the field reset, Rotten Ronnie glided into third as Euchred (Walter Walker) overtook Thunder Alley (Doug MacQuarrie) after a contested :27.1 first quarter and reached the half in :55.4. Rotten Ronnie launched his attack on the way to three-quarters in 1:26 and drew off down the lane to win by seven lengths in 1:55.2, setting a new track record for older pacing stallions

Already in the Inverness record books for his 1:58.1 rookie mile in August 2020, the four-year-old son of Malicious-Victory Cry shaved one-fifth of a second off Junebugs Baby's 2016 record for older horses and was one second and one-fifth off the overall male record set by gelding Formal Affair almost 12 years ago.

Rotten Ronnie paid $2.70 to win. Hippyjohn (Campbell MacIsaac) checked in second and Thunder Alley out-finished Euchred for third.

Rotten Ronnie now boasts 11 career wins, with 12 other top three finishes from 30 starts with earnings totalling $66,297.
