Making his first start since the end of February, French trotting sensation Bold Eagle showed no signs of rust with a dominant win in Saturday's Group II Prix Louis Jariel at Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes.

With Franck Nivard at the controls, Bold Eagle settled into second in the 2,175-metre event behind stablemate Bolero Love (Gabriele Gelormini). Bird Parker (Jean-Philippe Monclin) applied first over pressure to keep the leader honest but his bid started to falter heading into the stretch. That gap allowed Nivard to ease Bold Eagle from the pocket and fly past the pacesetter with long and powerful strides, and a virtually motionless Nivard giving his trotter a gentle shake of the lines as a reminder.

Owned by Pierre Pilarski and trained by Sébastien Guarato, five-year-old Bold Eagle (Ready Cash - Reethi Rah Jet) now boasts 23 wins from 27 lifetime starts. He spent his summer in the stud barn, serving a full book of mares with a stud fee of €15,000.
