This past weekend, American Pharoah captivated audiences from coast to coast as he won the Belmont Stakes and became thoroughbred racing's first Triple Crown champion in 37 years. The historic sports moment is one that both die hard and casual horse racing fans alike will recall for years to come, including many of harness racing's participants.
While preparing for a busy Saturday night of harness racing, many of the sport's stars were able to pause and witness American Pharoah's extraordinary feat as they explain in this week's Standardbred Canada video feature.
This weekend's SC Poll revealed that 92% of respondents watched the race, with the majority (59%) tuning in to watch the live television broadcast. Meanwhile, American Pharoah lured a capacity crowd of 90,000 to Belmont Park to watch his quest for glory.
