Andro Madi was a front-stepping winner in Thursday’s Fillies and Mares Open Pace at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and that was music to the ears of handicappers that backed her at 7-1.
Driver Dale Spence sent the Jonah Moase trainee to the front, and she successfully carved out fractions of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:26.2 before using a closing quarter of :29.3 to win in 1:56. It was 2-1/4 lengths in arrears to runner-up General Luckypercy, with Stayoutofmyaffair closing for third.
It was the fourth win of the season in 17 tries this season for Andro Madi, who is now a 23-time winner to date.
In other action, Sandhill Angel converted a pocket trip to score in the evening’s trot class for driver Kenny Arsenault. Arsenault, who participated in the annual Hall of Fame golf tournament earlier in the day, did the driving for owner Glen Claybourne
.
Driver Ron Matheson is only five victories away from career win 1,000 after taking top honours with Artners in Crime in Race 10. Bobbi Jo Gaudet is the owner while Jackie Matheson trains.
