Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Gardiner was in Toronto on Tuesday as the drawmaster for the 30th annual North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack.
Gardiner will be the area for a few days working with skating consultant Barb Underhill before returning to Minnesota where he will spend his offseason.
Prior to the draw at Mohawk, the young Leafs blueliner was asked who he thought was the Leafs MVP this past season. He had two names that came to mind. “I would have to say (James) Reimer and Naz (Kadri),” Gardiner said.
He was also asked who he thinks will win the Stanley Cup between Chicago and Boston.
“I’m going to go with Chicago. No way I can pick Boston.”
After the draw for Saturday’s North America Cup, Gardiner is picking Fool Me Once to win and Vegas Vacation for second in case anyone wants to place a bet.
Leafs TV was there and has the wrap up from his afternoon at the track.
