Doug McNair dominated the second half of Friday’s 12-race program at Grand River Raceway and in doing so jumped to first place in the track’s drivers standings

McNair’s first win came early in the third race with Thats Ideal (1:56.1) for trainer Stephen Doyle before he hit a grand slam to close out the evening. The John Curran-trained Amyng For Gold (1:56.2) provided the resident of St. Thomas, Ontario with his next win in the eighth race followed Bay Point Park (2:02) for A J Moore, Fresh Herb (1:57) for Bob McIntosh and Hbfs Power Play (1:56) for John Janes in races 10 through 12.
McNair’s five-win performance gives him a one-win lead ahead of Mark MacDonald at the Elora half-miler. The 20-year-old reinsman currently sits in fifth place in Canada’s drivers standings with 210 victories on the year.
