
Double Metal was an upset winner in the $24,658 Open Pace on Monday, June 9 at Harrington Raceway in 1:52.3.
Sweet Angel Boy, the 7-5 race favourite, led the field of seven through fractions of :27, :55.2 and 1:23.4 with Double Metal in the pocket in line to Cody Poliseno. In the stretch, Double Metal surged by with an inside charge to score his fifth win of the season for trainer Carlo Poliseno. Sweet Angel Boy held second while Armada Hanover finished third.
Double Metal has already notched three wins in six starts at the current meet. The son of Betting Line-Double Creme is trained by Carlo Poliseno, who shares ownership with Todd Burger. He paid $16.60 to win.
On the undercard, Forrest Bartlett’s Deebo Hanover ($2.80, Jason Green) won his third straight race in 1:54.3 in a $15,753 conditioned pacing event. The Papi Rob Hanover-Darena Hanover gelding remained undefeated as a sophomore for trainer Walter Callahan, who scored a training triple on the card.
Josh Graber’s Mr Overbite ($5.40, Corey Callahan) notched his third win of the meet in a $17,500 claiming event with a wire-to-wire triumph in 1:55.2 for trainer Crissy Crissman-Bier.
